The academic voyage at Tunghai University is akin to a wondrous odyssey, where each season unfurls its own captivating spectacle: the enchanting allure of cherry blossoms in spring, the dazzling blooming of phoenix flowers at graduation, and the charming presence of campus fauna, all serving as wellsprings of inspiration. Here, teachers and peers extend familial care to us foreign students, nurturing an environment of support and encouragement.

Within the Fine Arts curriculum lies a rich tapestry of learning, encompassing techniques from Eastern and Western traditions, sculpture, art historical studies, conceptual exploration, and the practicalities of curatorial endeavours. Notably, the curriculum also embraces the essence of contemporary art, emphasizing themes of sustainability and artistic reutilization. Tunghai University emerges as a crucible for nurturing multidimensional artistic talents.

Gratitude permeates my being for the nurturing embrace of my alma mater over these past years. It is here that I have found the fertile ground to mature and fortify my artistic pursuits. The aesthetic ethos of Tunghai University has left an indelible mark on my soul, infusing my creative journey with newfound vigour and purpose.

Entering Tunghai University’s Fine Arts department was a huge adjustment. While I know how to speak Chinese, my writing and reading were not as proficient. There were also cultural differences that caught me off guard despite having lived in Taipei the year prior. But even with all these obstacles, the professors of the fine arts department are some of the most diverse and open-minded individuals I have met. Not only are they skilled in their respective field, but many have studied abroad and have a global perspective. Their encouragement helped me feel more comfortable in this new environment and grow to understand Taiwan better. As for the courses, I found that they help build an in-depth foundation for various mediums, such as sculpting, mixed media, watercolor, calligraphy, and metalwork, allowing for exploration! As someone who thought I would strictly utilize digital art, I am in awe of how much this program pushed my boundaries and I feel I know myself as an artist better. Overall, the instruction and international viewpoint of the professors, as well as the variety of courses in this program, helped me adjust to Taiwan, develop my worldview, and grow as an artist.

I am honored to graduate from the Fine Arts Department of Tunghai University. I would like to express my personal experience of studying there. When applying for university, I was attracted by the environment of Tunghai University and enrolled in the Fine Arts Department. It is undeniable that it provides a first-class creative environment, bringing endless creativity and inspiration to students. The relationship and interaction between teachers and students are integral to the learning process. The inheritance from generation to generation, coupled with the teachers' hard work, have created a learning process that is full of care and provides sufficient guidance, leading students to gradually achieve their own goals. For a foreign student embarking on his own in an unfamiliar place, during these four years, the Department of Fine Arts of Tunghai University undoubtedly provided a warm and comprehensive place for learning. Finally, I would like to thank my teachers for their cultivation and guidance, which illuminated my future development direction.
